Pressure Regulator

How to Troubleshoot Common Pressure Regulator Problems?

A pressure regulator is a device that is created to control the pressure of fluids and gases. Because of its numerous advantages and strong controllability, an electric pressure regulator is used in various domestic, commercial and industrial applications where precision is necessary for the happening of a process. An increase or decrease in the pressure can compromise the process quality. The proper knowledge of the low pressure regulators and their working can be very helpful in finding and solving the issues.

Here we have listed some tips to troubleshoot pressure regulator problems:

Check for Leaks:

If your electric pressure regulator starts malfunctioning then the first thing you should do is to check for the leakages. Keep in mind that the leakage will not let you have the expected output from the installed device. A leakage can happen because of the high pressure or improper installation of the regulator. If you find it then repair the leakage immediately before it becomes a big problem.

Check the Diaphram:

The second thing that you should check is the diaphragm. Get the cover off from the top of the electro pneumatic regulator and look for the diaphragm, it will be sitting above the valve. When the water reaches the valves it gets pushed down to the diaphragm and the diaphragm expands, and the water flows through the opened valve. When the water is stopped the diaphragm goes back into its original position. If it’s not in good condition then get the assistance of a professional and ask him to do the required repairs.

Check the diaphragm of the electric pressure regulator with great care and if you find any kind of nicks, cracks or pitting on it, then you must replace it. Today, pressure regulator repair kits are commonly available at local hardware stores. For performing the repair it’s crucial to get the accurate kit from the market according to the model and size of your pressure regulator.

Clean the Regulator:

If there is no leakage and the diaphragm also looks fine, then stop the supply of the fluid and get the regulator out of the pipeline. After disassembling the digital pressure regulator, clean it properly because there is a great chance of debris present inside the regulator’s components that might be causing it to malfunction. Use a wrench to remove the top cover and lift up the valve from the valve body. After that soak the whole piece in the calcium lime remover. Let it be there for a few hours. Put your gloves on and take the valve out. Brush it and rinse it with water. Makes sure the valve is fully clean and does not contain any kind of debris. Now put the valve back and reinstall the electronic pressure regulator in the system.

Final Words:

The troubleshooting of an electric pressure regulator seems like an easy thing but it’s not. It requires great care and attention so that the right issue can be found and resolved correctly. If you want to get efficient performance from your device then create a schedule for the regular checkup and cleaning of the regulator.
